Model: Modern Player Starcaster
A TRUE FENDER ORIGINAL RETURNS Virtually legendary since the mid-to-late 1970s, the little-seen Starcaster holds a special place in Fender history as its only offset-waist semi-hollowbody electric guitar. Prized decades later by a new generation of adventurous guitarists with a flair for cool, offbeat Fender styling, the Starcaster now returns in a fabulous new modern player guise with greater sound, construction and beauty.
This guitar has a design that has managed to attract the attention of the new generation of guitarists. One of the most interesting points of the guitar is the headstock (exclusive to this model) that takes us back a bit to the 70’s, but it is larger and with an elegant black stripe on the bottom that highlights its length. The maple neck (maple) is very comfortable due to its “C” profile and the fingerboard radius allows you to move intuitively if you normally use Fender guitars.
As for the body, the Starcaster is made up of maple tops and an alder center block. It also consists of two “f” holes that are not aligned to the bridge, since the body is asymmetrical, which breaks with the schemes of hollow or semi-hollow bodies. Another break that it makes, without a doubt, is the union of the arm with the body: regularly in semi-hollow bodies the union is made by the arm attached to the body (set-in) and that of the Starcaster is screwed (bolt-on). This makes the scale of the guitar 25.5″ and no shorter.
The electronics are a hybrid between traditional and contemporary: it has the typical independent volume and tone controls for each pickup, a three-step selector and two humbucking pickups. However, Wide Range pickups have a sound somewhere between the darkness of a humbucker and the brilliance of a single-coil, which can range from rich clean funk to good rock with plenty of gain. One of the most representative guitarists that uses this guitar is Leo Nocentelli from The Meters with his classic song “Cissy Strut”. On the other hand, someone more contemporary would be David Keuning (The Killers) who occasionally shines a Starcaster.
The layout of independent controls makes you have a versatile and very dynamic guitar when playing with the nuances. Although it has an asymmetrical body, it is a very comfortable instrument, whether you play sitting down or standing up. And since you also fall in love with the guitar at first glance, vanity cannot be left behind.
